POSITIONS DESCRIPTION:
The Tanzania Tobacco Board is a crop regulatory body established under the Tobacco Industry Act No. 24 of 2001 (as amended by Crop Laws (Miscellaneous Amendments) Act No. 20 of 2009). The main regulatory responsibilities of the Board as mandated by Section five (5) of the aforementioned legislation are:-
(i) Formulation, implementation and enforcement of policies guidelines and standards aimed at regulating and improving the performance of the tobacco industry in Tanzania;
(ii) Provision of advice to the Minister responsible for Agriculture and Govemment in general on all matters related to the tobacco Industry; and
(iii)Promotion and development of a conducive environment for effective and fair competition to all stakeholders in the tobacco industry.

The Board wishes to recruit a competent and experienced Tanzanians to fill the following vacant posts

1.0 PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTANT

Duties and responsibilities:
To verify payment vouchers/cheque for approval;
To monitor Board's compliance with standardized accounting systems;
To review the Financial Regulations and Accounting Manual and recommend amendments for improvement;
To manage the accounting systems;
To check accuracy of financial reports;

Quantifications and Experience
Masters Degree in Accounting/Finance or Commerce from recognized University Institution with CPA (T), ACCA.
Eleven years of working experience in related field ..

Remuneration
TBGS 5 (Tobacco Board General Scale). 


2.0 CROP DEVELOPMENT AND REGULATORY SERVICES OFFICER II (19 POSTS)

Duties and responsibilities:

To assist in conducting field crop inspection and evaluation in order to establish correct crop estimates;
To assist conducting field tobacco classification;
To compile production and marketing statistics and draft reports;
To assist organize and provide efficient tobacco classification;
To administer tobacco market operations;
To assist in carrying out verification inspections on tobacco inputs to conform to the approved standards.

Qualification and Experience:
Bachelor degree in Agriculture General or its equivalent from a
recognized University institution

TBGS 5 (Tobacco Board General Scale).


3.0 COMPUTER SYSTEM ADMINISTRATOR (1 POST)
Duties and Responsibilities

To develop and/or customize software to meet specific requirements of the Board;
To support repair and maintenance of Tobacco Board computer hardware;
To assist in the upkeep of network infrastructure;
To assist in maintaining of documentation of network cabling systems;
To assist in providing front line network support, troubleshooting and network diagnosis;
To assist in installation, configuration and management of network equipments;
To provide support for staff and computer lab software installations.

Qualification and Experience
Bachelor Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology,
Electronics from a recognized University institution.

TBGS 5 (Tobacco Board General Scale).

4.0 RECORD MANAGEMENT ASSISTANT II (1 POST)
Duties and Responsibilities:-
To assist in the preparation of file Index/Register;
To assist in maintaining records/documents in the registry;
To assist filing, dispatch and cross check correspondences;
To assist in maintaining diary and records for files movements;
To assist in checking and cross checking mails, claims and retums;
To assist receiving, preview, recording and facilitate filing and distribution of document;
To receive and register incoming/outgoing mails.

Qualifications and Experience:
Certificate of Secondary Education,
Certificate in records management from Public Service College or any other recognized College/Institution.

5.0 DRIVER II ( 4 POSTS)
Duties and Responsibilities:

To drive vehicles towards approved destinations and in accordance with traffic regulations;
To undertake minor mechanical repairs,
To take vehicles due for routine maintenance/repair to the appointed service agent;
To maintain motor vehicle log books;
To make pre-inspection to the assigned vehicle prior travelling and report mechanical damages/defects;
To ensure safety and cleanliness of the vehicle at all times;
To ensure that valid documents and permits are acquired prior commencement of any journey;
To report promptly accidents or incidents involving the vehicles to the relevant authority.

Qualifications and Experience
Certificate of Secondary Education with passes in Kiswahili and
English,
A valid class 'C' driving license of not less than three years without causing accident,
Must have Trade Test Grade II/Drivers Grade II Certificate from a recognized Training Institutions.


6.0 PERSONAL SECRETARY II (1 POST)

Duties and Responsibilities

To receive and attend visitors;
To attend telephone calls and take messages;
To prepare and serve refreshments to officers as and when required;
To type confidential correspondences letters, manuscripts, reports and proceedings;
To draft simple letters, handle mail and take dictation;
To make travel and hotel arrangements /bookings;
To ensure available of stationery and other working equipment for the relevant office.

Qualifications and Experience
Form IV certificate and certificate of secretarial services from
Public Service College with pass of 80 w.p.m shorthand in Kiswahili or English.
Certificate in computer programs e.g. Windows, Microsoft office intemet, E-mail and Publisher.

TBGS 3 - (Tobacco Board General Scale).

 
7.0 SECURITY GUARD II (2 POSTS)

Duties and Responsibilities:
To maintain security of assets and properties of the Board;
To authenticate items coming and going out of Board's premises;
To report to senior Security Guards of any unusual events that endanger Board's properties;
To control movement of visitors to and from the premises with the aim of preventing burglary and theft;
To carry out inspection around the Board premises.

Qualifications and Experience
Certificate of Secondary Education with passes in Kiswahili and English
Militia Training/National Service/Basic Police Training certificate as a Security Guard

Remunerations:
TBOS 1 - (Tobacco Board Operational Scale)
