 Applications are invited from suitably qualified and experienced Tanzanians to fill the following vacant positions, at the Dar es Salaam Institute of Technology (DIT).
Dar es Salaam Institute of Technology (DIT) was established by Act of Parliament, Act No. 6 of 1997. The governance and the control of the institute are vested in the DIT Council. The Council has a chairperson appointed by the President of the United Republic of Tanzania and 11 members appointed by the Minister responsible for Science and Technology. The Chief Executive of the Institute is the Principal who is appointed by the Minister. The Principal is also the Secretary of the DIT Council. The Principal in executing his/her administration functions is supported by the Deputy Principal (Academic, Research and Consultancy) who is responsible for the operations of academic related departments and the Deputy Principal (Administration and Finance) who oversees the operations of supporting departments

1 .1 ASSISTANT LECTURERS -10 POSTS
1.1 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Teaches up to NTA level 8 (Bachelor Degree).
  • Prepares learning resources for tutorial exercise.
  • Conducts research, seminars and Case studies.
  • Supervises students’ project.
  • Prepares teaching manual and;
  • Performs any other duties as assigned by Supervisor.
1.2       QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
1.2.1 ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT- (2 POSTS)
  • Master Science/Master of Engineering in Electrical Engineering with Bachelor of Science./Bachelor of Engineering/Advanced Diploma with GPA 3.5 and above.
1.2.2 GENERAL STUDIES DEPARTMENT – (2 POSTS )
  • Master Degree in Entrepreneurship and (MEED) with Bachelor Degree/ Advanced Diploma with GPA 3.5 and above or equivalent qualification from recognized Institution – (1 Post)

2.0 TUTORIAL ASSISTANT - 16 POSTS
2.1 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Teaching up to NTA level 6 (Ordinary Diploma).
  • Conduct tutorial and practical exercises for students.
  • Prepares learning resources for tutorial exercise
  • Assists in conducting research under close supervision of supervisor
  • Carries out Consultancy and Community Services under close supervision.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned by supervisor.
2.2       QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
2.2.1 SCIENCE AND LABORATORY TECHNOLOGY – 4 POSTS
  • BSc(Education )  (Chemistry & Physics) or BSc (Education) Majoring in Physics and Mathematics or B.Sc (Food Science & Technology) or B.Sc(Biotechnology) (GPA should  3.5 and above or equivalent qualification from a recognized Institution.
2.2.2    BUILDING AND CIVIL ENGINEERING - 1 POST
  • Bachelor of Science /Bachelor of Engineering /Advance Diploma in Civil Majoring in Highway (GPA 3.5 and above) or equivalent qualification from a recognized Institution.
2.2.3 ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING – 2 POSTS
  • Bachelor of Science /Bachelor of Engineering /Advanced Diploma in Electrical Engineering GPA 3.5 and above or equivalent qualification from a recognized Institution.

3.0 INSTRUCTOR II – (20 POSTS)
3.1 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Teaches up to NTA level 6 and assist teaching in higher NTA levels.
  • Prepares leaning resources for practical exercises
  • Supervises and assists students in building up their research/ projects.
  • Prepare learning resources.
  • Assists in conducting practical exercises for students in the department under close supervision up to level 5
  • Conducts research, consultancy and community services.
  • Supervises field training.
  • Supervises and assist junior staff
  • Perform any other duties as assigned by supervisor.
3.2 QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
3.2.1 ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING – (3 POSTS)
  • Bachelor of Science or Advanced Diploma in Biomedical Engineering or equivalent qualification from a recognized Institution (GPA should be 3 and above) – (2 POSTS)

4.1 PRINCIPAL INSTRUCTOR II - (1 POST)
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
  • Master of Science/Master Engineering in Electronics and Telecommunications Engineering with BSc./BEng/Advanced Diploma in Electronics and Telecommunications Engineering/Communication System technology with  GPA 3.5 and above with at least 6 working experience  who is eligible for registration as a technical teacher.
4.2     Duties and Responsibilities
  • Teaches up to NTA level 6 and may assist teaching in higher NTA levels
  • Coordinates teaching activities and prepares learning resources
  • Conducts research ,consultancy and Community services
  • Develops and reviews curricula
  • Plans,designs and reviews training programmes
  • Supervises students projects and research works up to NTA level 8;

5.0 LABORATORY/WORKSHOP TECHNICIAN II -10 POSTS
5.1 Duties and Responsibilities
  • Assists in specified tasks in connection with laboratory practical research and students’ projects under close supervision.
  • Assists academic staff in their research, teaching and consultancy activities.
  • Assists in the repair and maintenance of laboratory and workshop facilities;
  • Performs any other related duties assigned by immediate Supervisor.

6.0 ADMISSION OFFICER II - 1 POST
 6.1 QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
  • First Degree/ Advanced Diploma in Educational Management, Administration or Statistics.
6.2 Duties and Responsibilities
  • Process application for admission
  • Ensures availability of stationaries for admission purposes
  • Assist in preparing admission advertisements
  • Keeps proper records of all students’ admission matters.
  • Performs any other related duties as may be assigned by immediate supervisor
6.3 REMUNERATION

7.1 LEGAL OFFICER II – (1 POST)
7.2 QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
First Degree/Advanced Diploma in law plus a successful completion of one year internship/training from a Law School and has been admitted as an Advocate of the High Court.
7.3 Duties and Responsibilities
  • Indexes, files, register Government/College notices and all other legal documents and ensure their safe custody.
  • Compiles evidence relevant for court cases involving the Institute.
  • Attends to registration of all legal documents and probate matters.
  • Takes charge of documents and correspondences of already assigned cases.
  • Deals with all legal routine correspondences addressed to the Institute Drafts prescribed legal documents and forms
  • Files and appearing for general proceedings in courts & Commission for Mediation & Arbitration (CMA).
  • Performs other related duties as may be assigned by immediate Supervisor.
7.4 REMUNERATION

8.1 ESTATE OFFICER II - 1 POST- DIT MAIN CAMPUS AND 1 POST - DIT –MWANZA

First Degree/Advanced Diploma in Civil Engineering, Architecture, Quantity Surveying, Environmental Engineering or Building Economics.
8.3 Duties and Responsibilities
  • Deals with conditioning, maintaining and upgrading of the Institute’s surroundings
  • Assists in preparing work schedules.
  • Keeps and maintaining equipment in good working order
  • Assists in the planning of Estate activities and services.
  • Performs any other related duties as may be assigned by immediate Supervisor.

9.3 Duties and Responsibilities
  • Pre-audits payments.
  • Pre-audits Local Purchasing Orders.
  • Conducts routine examination of accounting
  • Checks accuracy of Bank reconciliation
  • Audits invoices and local purchase orders;
  • Audits stock control records;
  • Checks costing records for all projects;

10.3 Duties and Responsibilities
  • Supervises the maintenance of the hall of residence
  • Advises on students requirements in halls of residence
  • Plans and recommends space utilization in halls of residence.
  • Orders facilities needed for executing duties in the halls of residence.

11.3 Duties and Responsibilities
  • Takes care of laboratory equipment and facilities.
  • Assists in conducting different tests

12.2 QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:      
 First Degree/Advanced Diploma in Accounting and Intermediate stage (both Module C & D) plus three (3) years experience.
12.3 Duties and Responsibilities
  • Performs a variety of accounting tasks including receiving and paying out cash and cheques.
  • Maintains accurate accounts records.
  • Prepares trial balance.
  • Prepares monthly trial balances & bank reconciliation statement
  • Prepares monthly Salaries & Related returns
  • Maintains debtors & creditors records
  • Prepares financial statements
  • Performs any other related duties as may be assigned by immediate supervisor

13.1 SENIOR JANITOR I – (1 POST)
13.2 QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
Diploma in Education, Guidance & Counselling or Social Welfare from a recognised Institution plus seven (7) years of working experience in a similar profession/career.

13.3 Duties and Responsibilities
  • Assists in supervising hall attendants.
  • Assists in enforcing students' rules and regulations.
  • Assists in keeping and maintaining proper residence records.
  • Assists in ensuring security in and around halls of residence.
  • Assists in administration of halls of residence affairs.
  • Assists in organizing social events among students in the hall of residence.
  • Assists in conducting Counseling Guidance.
  • Performs any other related duties as may be assigned by immediate Supervisor
13.4 REMUNERATION

13.1 SENIOR WARDEN II – (1 POST)
13.2 QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
 First Degree/Advanced Diploma in Education, Psychology, Sociology or Social Work plus five (5) years experience in a similar profession/career. Masters degree is an added advantage.
13.3 Duties and Responsibilities
  • Takes care of students' welfare and ensures that the sick are urgently treated and taken care satisfactorily.
  • Attends to issues of students’ accommodation, catering, health, and recreation in respective halls of residence.
  • Co-ordinates administrative chores pertaining to halls of residence.
  • Ensures that Institute By-Laws and regulations guiding the students' life in halls of residence are observed.
  • Takes necessary action where such by-laws and regulations are violated.
  • Assists in coordinating students administrative matters.
  • Performs any other related duties as may be assigned by immediate Supervisor.
13.4     REMUNERATION

14.1 OFFICE MANAGEMENT SECRETARY II (1 POST)
14.2 QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
Diploma in Secretarial Studies from recognized Institution and a certificate of Management Development for Executive Assistant Level I from TPSC plus five (5) years working experience in a similar profession/career.
14.3 Duties and Responsibilities
  • Types confidential letters, minutes, circulars, certificates, charts and stencils
  • Co-ordinates and supervise Secretarial staff in the unit
  • Ensures cleanliness of the office(s) she works and those of the officers he/she works with
  • Takes proper care of facilities and equipment under her charge
  • Takes dictation by shorthand
  • Works with heads of sections, units and departments
  • Co-ordinates all office needs and requirements,
  • Receives and distributes letters to respective officials;
  • Receives and directs visitors,
  • Keeps minutes/records of meetings
  • Performs any other related duties as may be assigned by immediate supervisor

15.1 SECRETARY II -2 POSTS- DIT MAIN CAMPUS AND 1 POST - DIT – MWANZA CAMPUS

15.2 QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
 Form IV/VI Certificate with passes in English and Kiswahili and a Certificate in Secretarial Studies from a recognised institution.                                                      
15.3 Duties and Responsibilities
  • Types all general correspondence including non-confidential matters.
  • Types letters, minutes, notices, bulletins, circulars, certificates, charts and stencils
  • Prints reports, letters etc.
  • Takes proper care of office machines and equipment in one’s respective office.
  • Files copies of typed letters in relevant files.
  • Performs any other related duties as may be assigned by immediate supervisor
