VACANCIES ANNOUNCEMENT

On behalf of Mwalimu Julius K. Nyerere University of Science and Technology (MJNUST) Public Service Recruitment Secretariat invites qualified Tanzanians to fill  vacant posts in the above Public Institutions.

NB: GENERAL CONDITIONS

i.       All applicants must be Citizens of Tanzania and not above 45 years old, however, should also observe the age limit for each position where indicated.

ii.      Applicants must attach an up-to-date current Curriculum Vitae (CV) having reliable contact, postal address, e-mail and telephone numbers.

iii.    Applicants should apply on the strength of the information given in this advertisement.

iv.    Applicants must attach their detailed relevant certified copies of academic certificates:

-      Postgraduate/Degree/Advanced Diploma/Diploma/Certificates.

-      Postgraduate/Degree/Advanced Diploma/Diploma transcripts.

-      Form IV and Form VI National Examination Certificates.

vi.    Testimonials, Partial transcripts and results slips will not be accepted.

vii.  Presentation of forged academic certificates and other information in the CV will necessitate to legal action

viii. Applicants for senior positions currently employed in the public service should route their application letters through their respective employers.

ix.    Applicants for entry levels currently employed in the Public Service should not apply, they have to adhere to Government Circular Na. CAC. 45/257/01/D/140 dated 30^th November, 2010.

x.     Applicants who have/were retired from the Public Service for whatever reason should not apply.

xi.    Applicants should indicate three reputable referees with their reliable contacts.

xii.  Certificates from foreign examination bodies for ordinary or advanced level education should be certified by The National Examination Council of Tanzania (NECTA)

xiii. Certificates from foreign Universities should be verified by The Tanzania Commission for Universities (TCU)

xiv.The attachments shall include two recent passport size photos; certified copies of academic certificates, transcripts and the applicant’s birth certificate. This shall also include submission of certificate or application of registration by VCT or MCT.

Mwalimu Julius K. Nyerere University of Science and Technology (MJNUST) based in Butiama, Mara region.

[A]TUTORIAL ASSISTANTS/TRAINEE ASSISTANT LIBRARIANS (23 positions)

MJNUST intends to recruit 20 Tutorial Assistants and 3 Trainee Assistant Librarians who are not more than 30 years of age and who are holders of Bachelor Degree, with a minimum GPA of 3.8 or an overall B for unclassified Degrees such as Medical Doctor and Bachelor of Veterinary Medicine. Applicants need to have a minimum of B in the specified area/subject of specialisation.

The advertised positions are in the following disciplines;

1.1       TUTORIAL ASSISTANT SCIENCE EDUCATION (2 POSTS) DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

·      Assist in conducting tutorials for students

·      Prepare learning materials for tutorials

·      Assist in conducting research

·      Carry out consultancy and community services

·      Carry out any other duties as may be assigned by his/her Head of Department

1.1.1  QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCES:

·      Bachelor of science with Education either in Physics and Mathematics and Chemistry and Biology with at least GPA of 3.8

1.2 TUTORIAL ASSISTANT AGRICULTURE (2 POSTS).

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

·      Assist in conducting tutorials for students

·      Prepare learning materials for tutorials

·      Assist in conducting research

·      Carry out consultancy and community services

·      Carry out any other duties as may be assigned by his/her Head of Department

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCES:

·      Bachelor of Science in Crop Science and Bachelor of Science in Agronomy with at least GPA of 3.8

1.3 TUTORIAL ASSISTANT ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY (4 POSTS). DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

·      Assist in conducting tutorials for students

·      Prepare learning materials for tutorials

·      Assist in conducting research

·      Carry out consultancy and community services

·      Carry out any other duties as may be assigned by his/her Head of Department

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCES:

·      Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Engineering, Water Resource Engineering, Mineral Processing Engineering, Food Science and Technology with at least GPA of 3.8

1.4 TUTORIAL ASSISTANT VETERINARY SCIENCES (3 POSTS), in the following specified area/subject of specialization:

1 Position in either Veterinary Medicine/Public Health or Epidemiology,

1 Position in Veterinary Physiology and

1 Position either in Veterinary Microbiology or Veterinary Parasitology

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

·      Assist in conducting tutorials for students

·      Prepare learning materials for tutorials

·      Assist in conducting research

·      Carry out consultancy and community services

·      Carry out any other duties as may be assigned by his/her Head of Department

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCES:

·      Bachelor of Veterinary Medicine with a minimum of B in the specified area/subject of specialization and must be registered with the Veterinary Council of Tanzania or initiated the process of registration.

1.5 TUTORIAL ASSISTANT HEALTH SCIENCES (3 POSTS).

(2  positions in Medicine and 1 position in Pharmaceutical Sciences. )

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

·      Assist in conducting tutorials for students

·      Prepare learning materials for tutorials

·      Assist in conducting research

·      Carry out consultancy and community services

·      Carry out any other duties as may be assigned by his/her Head of Department

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCES:

·   Doctor of Medicine with a minimum of B in the specific area/subject of specialization and must be registered with the Medical Council of Tanganyika or initiated the process of registration OR

·      Bachelor of  Pharmacy with a GPA of 3.8

1.6 TUTORIAL ASSISTANT NATURAL RESOURCE MANAGEMENT AND TOURISM(3 POSTS).

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

·      Assist in conducting tutorials for students

·      Prepare learning materials for tutorials

·      Assist in conducting research

·      Carry out consultancy and community services

·      Carry out any other duties as may be assigned by his/her Head of Department

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCES:

·      Bachelor of Science in Forestry , Natural Resource Management and Zoology with at least GPA of 3.8

1.7 TUTORIAL ASSISTANT FISHERIES AND AQUATIC SCIENCES (3 POSTS) DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

·      Assist in conducting tutorials for students

·      Prepare learning materials for tutorials

·      Assist in conducting research

·      Carry out consultancy and community services

·      Carry out any other duties as may be assigned by his/her Head of Department

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCES:

·      Bachelor of Science in Aquaculture and Fisheries with at least GPA of 3.8

1.8 TRAINEE ASSISTANT LIBRARIANS (3 POSTS)

1.1.1  DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

·          Prepare orders of book

·          Receive new materials

·          Circulates work related

·          Lends out and receives in books

·          Undertake cataloguing, indexing

·           Assists the acquisition and periodicals function of the library

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCES:

·          Bachelor of Science in Library Sciences or of any other relevant Degree.

ASSISTANT LECTURERS (2 POSTS)

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  

·      Teach up to NTA Level 8 (Bachelor’s Degree)

·      Conduct research, seminars and case studies

·      Supervise students’ projects

·      Prepare teaching manuals

·      Counsel and guide students in academic matters

·      Undertake consultancy and community services

·  Carry out any other duties as may be assigned by his/her Head of  Department

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCES:

·      Master’s Degree  in Agricultural Economics/Agribusiness/ Entrepreneurship

·      At least GPA of 3.8 at undergraduate level and shall have a minimum GPA of 4.0 or equivalent at Masters Level.

·      Not more than 36 years of age

LECTURERS (2 POSITIONS)

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

·      Teach students up to NTA level 9 (Masters Degree).

·      Guide and supervise students in building up their practical and research projects.

·      Prepare learning resources and design training exercises for students.

·      Conduct consultancy and community services.

·      Undertake individual research and participates in scientific/academic congregations.

·      Supervise and guide post-graduate students.

·      Prepare teaching manuals simulations and case studies for training.

·      Coach junior teaching staff.

·      Assume managerial leadership roles e.g. coordinate academic programmes or major research projects and consultancy.

·      Perform any other duties as assigned by supervisors

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCES:

· Master’s Degree  in Agricultural Economics/Agribusiness/ Entrepreneurship

·      At least GPA of 3.8 at undergraduate level and shall have a minimum GPA of 4.0 or equivalent at Masters Level.

·      Not more than 36 years of age

·      PhD in the relevant field

·      Field experience in the relevant disciplines/fields shall be an added advantage.
